OLD TOWN SQUARE

The oldest square in Warsaw. The most important place on the map of the capital city, entered in the List of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In summertime it hosts numerous cultural events. Visitors will find there a lot of cafes, restaurants, historic buildings of different eras, mostly rebuilt after the ravages of the Second World War.

CATHEDRAL BASILICA OF SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST

One of the oldest churches in Warsaw – the first date evidenced in documents relating to it is the year 1339.It has witnessed among other things sermons of renowned priest Piotr Skarga and a pledge made by king Władysław IV Waza on his pacta conventa (Articles of Agreement made by each king newly elected to the throne).

ROYAL CASTLE

Entered in the List of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, an example of Baroque and Classicism in architecture, it is a museum but it also plays representation roles. Awarded the historic monument status, it used to be plundered and destroyed in the past by Swedish, Brandenburg, German and Russian armed forces repeatedly.

Eryk Lipiński Museum of Caricature and Cartoon Art is ranked in the top ten unique European museums. It keeps records, collects and exhibits Polish and foreign artistic graphics, photographs and satirical paintings – in total ca. 20 thousand works!

KRAKOWSKIE PRZEDMIEŚCIE

One of the most beautiful streets in Warsaw. It is the northern section of the Royal Route. Its features include but are not limited to the monuments of astronomer Nicolas Copernicus, priest and poet Jan Twardowski or novelist Bolesław Prus, as well as the Holy Cross Church or the Potocki Palace.

PRESIDENTIAL PALACE

PRESIDENTIAL PALACE

The biggest, historic palace in the downtown Warsaw. Since 1994 it has been the official seat of the President of the Republic of Poland. The palace has been rebuilt and remodeled repeatedly. Its current external appearance dates from the 19th century.

THE MUSEUM OF THE HISTORY OF POLISH JEWS

The Museum traces the centuries-old history of Jews in Poland. It was founded on the initiative of the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland. It performs two functions: of a cultural and educational center and a traditional museum. It presents Polish Jews’ contribution in the development of the Polish science, culture and economy.

NATIONAL THEATER

The oldest existing theater in Poland. It was founded in 1765 by King Stanisław August Poniatowski. Its roots go back to the Enlightenment.

The Tomb – monument stands on Marshal Józef Piłsudski Square to commemorate those who gave their lives in combat for independence of Poland. At the end of the World War II it suffered serious damage. It was rebuilt and finally unveiled in 1946.

WARSAW UNIVERSITY

One of the best Universities in Poland was found in 1816 on the initiative of Stanisław Staszic and Stanisław Kostka Potocki. Its graduates include among others Bronisław Komorowski, Lech Kaczyński, Tadeusz Mazowiecki or Bolesław Prus.

COPERNICUS SCIENCE CENTER

A science center focused on promotion and making scientific communication popular. It houses a multimedia planetarium. It also enables visitors to learn the rights of nature through individually carried out experiments at interactive exhibitions.

WARSAW ZOO

Located in Praga Północ district, it provides home for over 550 animal species. You can visit, among other things, the aviary, the aquarium, the invertebrates exhibit or the elephant pen.

PALACE OF CULTURE AND SCIENCE

Located in the heart of Warsaw, the highest building in Poland, erected in the years 1952–1955 it imitated the Moscow skyscrapers of the time. At present it houses a lot of firms and public institutions such as cinemas, a bookstore, sports clubs or theaters. Its 30th floor observation deck provides beautiful panoramic views of the capital city.

NATIONAL MUSEUM

Founded in 1862 as the Museum of Fine Arts, it is now the biggest museum in Warsaw and one of the biggest in Poland. Its collections include among others Polish paintings since the 18th century, works of art of ancient times, as well as a foreign painting gallery or numismatic collections. No visit to Warsaw is complete without experiencing it!

WARSAW PHILHARMONIC

It was founded in 1901 on the initiative of Polish financial circles, aristocrats and representatives of the music world, among others: Natalia, Stefan and Stanisław Lubomirski. The style of the concert hall building is eclectic, modelled after the Paris Opera. Each season Warsaw Philharmonic organizes many symphonic concerts, recitals and chamber music nights. Its performing artists include eminent Polish and foreign musicians from all over the world.

One of the most beautiful palace and gardens complexes in Warsaw founded in the 18th century by King Stanisław August Poniatowski.
